Il Principe is the most significant and controversial work of the Florentine Renaissance statesman Niccolò Machiavelli. For many years this book was associated with the politics of venom and dagger. To the modern reader this work may not seem so sensational. Many of the author’s provisions are taken for granted, having found their embodiment in the history of the twentieth century.
